HOUSE NEAR BRITTAS BAY
The brief for this house was to both to maximise the views to the south (rear of the house) and also to utilise the solar gain from this orientation. The planners were keen to have a traditional "front" to the house facing the road (north) and so this elevation is more traditional in style. The concept of having sections at different angles emerged which allowed the "front" to follow the line of the road and the rear of the house to face due south. The accommodation comprises of a large open-plan living /kitchen/dining area with a larder and utility off it, downstairs wc, cloaks, guest bedroom ensuite, large living room and upstair 4 bedrooms and a bathroom with a walk in wardrobe and ensute and balcony off the master bedroom. The house is extremely well insulated and has heat recovery ventilation and a geothermal heating system. Airtightness was achieved in the timber framed construction.
